Manager Technical Sales
Stephen Sexton received his BS in Geography from Kansas State University and
MS in Geography/Cartography from the University of North Dakota. Stephen's Masters
Thesis correlated deviations in annual average temperature and precipitation
to severity of chinch bug outbreaks in Kansas. Since these outbreaks correlated
with 20 year flood-drought cycles, Sexton analyzed chinch bug outbreaks in the
1910's, 1930's, 1950's and 1970's. From 1982 through 1998, Stephen was directly
involved in production agriculture as an active partner of Mayo-Sexton Land
& Cattle, Garden City, Kansas. He was the farm manager in a diversified
operation, crops and livestock, that primarily focused on irrigated alfalfa
production for dairies.
It was Stephen's frustration with compacted soils that accompanied alfalfa
production and no viable options to remediate compaction that led him to work
directly with SuperBio®. Beginning with a 5 acre test plot on newly-planted
alfalfa, Sexton's use of SuperBio® expanded to include every acre of alfalfa
and wheat. Sexton was involved with initial compaction studies with the USDA-NRCS
in Yuma, Colorado and field plots that generated much needed data. From 1995
to 1999, Steve traveled eastern Colorado, western Kansas, and the panhandles
of Texas and Oklahoma conducting seminars and promoting SuperBio®. Steve
joined AMS Jan. 1, 1999.
